P.O.S.H Ministry: Simply Serving God

Elisabeth Wither is an R&B, Neo-Soul singer and songwriter. One of her most famous songs was a song called The Simple Things.

"Thinking if I spent more money than I could
If I worked harder than I should
Always having friends to feel good, I'd be happier
Loosing my breath in the hustle
Just stressin' over nuthin'
Forgetting the real joys that lie - in the simple things"

What Mrs. Withers was trying to tell us, is that many times, MOST times in life, we are overlooking the value in the simple things. Thinking if you had more money, more friends, more jobs, things would be greater and you'd be happier.

As believers in Christ, especially those who are new in Christ, it is very easy to get caught up in the "game" of church.  People  who play this game will have you thinking that if you don't understand the difference between Greek and Hebrew, if you're not proficient in the use of concordances, lexicons, dictionaries and all the other tools that are used in the studying of the word of God that you have not truly received salvation.  You are not serving God "correctly".
If perhaps, you find yourself feeling like this way of thinking may be true, let me encourage you in your walk with Christ.  It is in the SIMPLE understanding and obedience to His word that God hears you and God blesses you. He is not complicated! Don't get so caught up in the game of church that you miss what God is trying to say TO you and THROUGH you.  You're ministry and your destiny rests on you getting just what He is saying to YOU and not anyone else.

Many times He speaks in a still small voice (I Kings 19:12), other times He comes as rolling thunder (Joel 3:16). But when He does speak to you, He will have already prepared you through your studying of His word, to grasp exactly what He is saying.

As we remain in his word His voice will be made plain.  All that we need or want is in Him; financial freedom, friends, peace and joy, lies truly in the simplicity of serving Him. Simply serve God.
